Did you know that Hillary Clinton was paid $225,000 to speak at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas? Well, this is why students of the said school are asking Clinton to return the money deeming it as an “outrageous” fee.
However, Clinton said she’s already given it to their foundation, the Clinton Foundation as she has for the past year and a half – ah, and to think the Clinton’s claimed to be dead broke after their stint in the White House. Still, the Clinton’s who support estate taxes are said to have been using various tactics to avoid paying their own. Hmm…
Anyway, if you were Hillary Clinton, would you ask for astronomical fees especially on schools?
Just like writing, speaking is a gift. They’re both necessary skills in Leadership, though many are just good at one while needs to improve on the other. Still, if you’re especially on the level of Clinton, wouldn’t you be a bit more considerate on fees and instead think of helping students become Leaders?
Okay, the fee went to a good cause. But the money came from students, so shouldn’t they be entitled to some discount? Otherwise, what have you really imparted? Teaching them to give without being consulted? What would you make of them? And of yourself?
Speaking fees may sound simple to many Leaders. Yet what happened to leading by example if something as simple as speaking fees become a source of controversy on your part?
What’s your take?
